1923 Annual Report

This page is dedicated to the reproduction of this fascinating report on how Heatherwood was set up and shows a detailed view of Heatherwood 80 years ago. It’s a fascinating window into a bygone age.

Each page of the booklet was scanned and by clicking on the pictures below you will be able to download a jpeg file which is a copy of the actual page of the booklet.

A sample of a bygone age

On the rules of admission page, it details visiting time for parents and friends. Always a bone of contention how long do you allow ?. In 1922 the rules for visiting were:-

“ Parents and adult friends may visit patients between 2 and 3.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays and on Bank Holidays between 10.30 and 12 am and 1.30 and 3.30pm “.

Not long by today’s standards but we also have to bear in mind patients could have a stay as long as 2 years.
