Needs New Volunteers
Looking for a new hobby, looking for something to do in the evenings, looking to share your musical tastes with others, looking to help your local hospital, looking to cheer up patients in hospital. Then look no further this could be just what your looking for !
We are always on the lookout for new presenters, they come from all walks of life. If you, or you know of anybody who could give one evening every week and who likes meeting people, then this could be the job for you ( full training given ).
This is not just a young persons vocation. Some of our volunteers are over thirty/forty and take to the task easily.
We are not after professional broadcasters, slick presentation or the latest disco DJ.
We want individuals with a helping hand a good sense of humour and a team player. Those who are looking for a hobby or something to do in the evenings then this could be just right for you. We will train you in the art of broadcasting and get you to the required standard at a pace which is comfortable. Hospital radio presentation is about meeting the people and making new friends.
Duties of a Presenter
The role of presenter includes visiting the wards each night chatting to the patients ensuring the patient has access to the radio.
New presenters will be trained alongside full members and after training is completed, you will be presenting request shows and opportunities will exist for you to participate in special programs.
How Long Will Training Take ?
Often asked and an answer “ how long is a bit of string ”. each individual will learn at their own pace. Presenting programs on your own, not before an average of a number of months. These figures are based on an attendance of 1 night per week. These are only guidelines and as already stated it's down to the individual.
What Will I Get Out Of Being A Hospital Radio Presenter?
Hospital radio is an essential part of hospital life. Those patients who need either a visitor at the bedside or some music to help forget their woes are more than grateful for your time and attention. The praise from patients and staff and the knowledge you have been able to entertain, gives everyone a real buzz. In addition you will make new friends and become part of a voluntary team dedicated to providing a professional radio service for it's listeners.
Is This My Ticket To Radio Stardom ?
Hospital radio provides an avenue for would be radio presenters to learn the basics. Training on hospital radio will not automatically guarantee you a place on commercial/national radio. It's not a quick route to the stars.

Radio Heatherwood is looking for people who can give a long term commitment to one evening a week visiting the wards and brightening up the lives of those hospital patients who are feeling a bit down.
Duty Times
Mon - Fri 18:15 to 22:15
Sat - 08:30 to 13:00
If You Live And Work Within A Ten Mile Radius Of Ascot And Have Your Own Transport.

Radio Heatherwood does not have the resources to offer work experience.
The only barriers to you joining is your age; you must be over 18 and you must live & work within 10 miles of the hospital.
