Heatherwood In Picture 2005 Maternity Unit

Welcome to Heatherwood in picture. The following page carries some more recent photo's of Heatherwood Hospital Maternity unit. On a warm October Sunday morning I took the opportunity to walk round the site and capture the current views of the buildings and site.

The Maternity unit built in the early 1970's has changed services in recent years. Incorporating the new diagnostic centre, X-ray and minor injuries on the ground floor. Out-patients clinics have also been added.

Maternity services plays only a small part of the use of the unit today.

Maternity Unit

Entrance 1 to Heatherwood leads you to the minor injuries unit now loacted on the ground flour of the Maternity unit.

Main Entrance with access now to X-ray,minor injuries, and Maternity services on ward 7.

Originally built as the Maternity with three wards. The unit now only has only one ward dedicated to Maternity Ward 7.

When the maternity unit was first built it stood empty for a time and was also used by the British film industry for Carry On Matron.
