The
league of friends fete's were the main stay of fundraising throughout the 1960's
70's and 80's. The last fete was organised by former Secretary Pat Bidgood in
1990. The lack of support from volunteers and members of the public sealed the
end of the fete as a form of fundraising. Each year the organisation of the fete
would generate an immense amount of work for the league secretary. The income
from the fetes dwindled and for the amount of effort which was required it was
decided by the league to call it a day.
