The world famous Bertram Mills circus had its winter quarters at Ascot,
this had benefits for the hospital, when on one occasion the circus visited
the hospital to brighten up the stay of the children.

Eight children from the hospital went to Olympia on Monday to see the
Bertram Mills circus performance given annually for crippled children.
They were accompanied by two teachers and two of the nursing staff.

Circus Time At Heatherwood
Children at Heatherwood Hospital at Ascot received a welcome visit from a
section of Mr Bertram Mills Circus Last Week.
The circus has winter quarters at Ascot and arranged the trip to the
hospital to brighten the lives of children unable to leave their beds fro
the Olympia season beginning next month. Four Ponies a miniature coach and
four, a llama, a donkey and a camel were among the visiting animals.
Ponies went to the bedside of the children on the terrace and some of the
more fortunate were driven around the quadrangle in the coach.
The children were wildly enthusiastic about the visit and expressed keen
appreciation of the gesture.
